abstract

ftr-raman spectra of human dental enamel, both laser-irradiated and untreated, are reported. spectra are compared with hydroxyapatite. it is evident that unlike the co2 laser, the nd/yag laser does not induce any chemical change in dental enamel.

FT-Raman Spectroscopic Studies of Nd/YAG Laser Irradiated Human Dental Enamel

FTR-Raman Spectra of human dental enamel, both laser-irradiated and untreated, are reported. Spectra are compared with hydroxyapatite. It is evident that unlike the CO2 laser, the Nd/YAG laser does not induce any chemical change in dental enamel.

ft-raman spectroscopic characterization of enamel surfaces irradiated with er:yag and nd:yag lasers

background and aims: although dental caries is a preventable disease, it is still common and remains a public health problem. one of the potentially effective preventive measures is laser irradiation. raman spectroscopy is a powerful technique for studying the microcrystalline structure of dental enamel. the study assessed the chemical alterations occurring in enamel irradiated with er:yag or n...

FT-Raman spectroscopic characterization of enamel surfaces irradiated with Nd:YAG and Er:YAG lasers

Background. Despite recent advances in dental caries prevention, caries is common and remains a serious health problem. Laser irradiation is one of the most common methods in preventive measures in recent years. Raman spectroscopy technique is utilized to study the microcrystalline structure of dental enamel. In this study, FT-Raman spectroscopy was used to evaluate chemical changes in enamel s...

Spectroscopic characterization of enamel surfaces irradiated with Er:YAG laser.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of laser irradiation on the enamel surface spectroscopically. Polished bovine enamel surface was irradiated with an Er:YAG laser apparatus and chemically analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XPS detected core electron peaks such as carbon (C 1s) and nitrogen (N 1s), as well as calcium (Ca 2s, Ca 2p, Ca 3s, Ca 3p), phospho...

Raman Spectroscopic Studies of Bioactive Materials

Bioactive materials including glass and glass-ceramics are nowadays used as medical implants for orthopedic applications. In this study several samples of glass-ceramics have been prepared using both heat treatment and sol-gel processes. The structure and bioactivity of these samples based on their interaction with simulated body fluid (SBF) have been determined. In-vitor, using the Raman s...

Laser-Raman and FT-IR spectroscopic studies of peptide-analogues of silkmoth chorion protein segments.

Silkmoth chorion, the proteinaceous major component of the eggshell, with extraordinary mechanical and physiological properties, consists of a complex set of proteins, which have a tripartite structure: a central, evolutionarily conserved, domain and two more variable 'arms'. Peptide-analogues of silkmoth chorion protein central domain segments have been synthesized. Laser-Raman and infrared sp...
